Our Bodyworks’ team is still experiencing a runners high after the Perdido Beach Resort Half Marathon, 5k, and Fun Run. If you’ve ever finished a run feeling like you have jello legs, we get it! And we only did the 5k!
As a Platinum Sponsor for this event we had a tent to provide all runners a place for massage, stretching, and foam rollers for post-race care. Our skin care team even made Spa Infused Misters for a nice refreshing mist to hydrate and help with inflammation along with mini sunscreens.
Why Runners and Massage Therapist Should Be Friends
Let’s talk about our relationship with our muscles. We demand a lot from them, and in return, they occasionally remind us they need some extra care in the form of knots, tightness, and the dreaded DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness). Massage Therapist can help transform sore muscles back into feeling their best for your next run.
What Massage Can Do For Runners
It’s not just about relaxation; it’s a repair and recovery session for your body.
Improved Recovery: Massage therapy helps flush out those pesky toxins and increase blood flow, which means your muscles receive nutrients and oxygen. Say goodbye to walking down the stairs awkwardly.
Injury Prevention: Regular massages can help identify tight spots before they turn into full-blown injuries. Think of it as preventive maintenance for your body.
Flexibility: Massage therapy can help improve range of motion. Tight muscles can restrict movement and range of motion, which can increase the risk of injury. It’s best to work the tightness out of your muscles for optimal recovery.
And You’ll Feel Better!!!: That alone is reason enough!
Running for a Cause
Beyond the sense of achievement you feel from completing a run, running for a cause is a powerful way to channel our passion for running into meaningful change. We become part of something that brings community together, raises awareness, and makes a meaningful impact.
The Perdido Beach Resort Half Marathon, 5k, and Fun Run was in support of the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation’s mission, dedicated to enhancing the well-being of youth in our community by providing programs, services, and resources in Baldwin County communities.
As a wellness spa we promote full body and mind wellness and this event aligned with our beliefs of keeping a healthy mindset, community, and helping your neighbors and friends. It was truly one of our favorites events as a team that we have ever participated in.
The Runners Spa Day
Timing is Everything: Consider scheduling your massage a day or two after your long run or race, allowing your body some time to initiate its natural healing process.
We believe the relationship with massage therapy is highly beneficial for runners in keeping their muscles and connective tissue healthy and strong. Our team of professionals are here to provide you the utmost care at every stage of your running journey.
