Happy International Yoga Day

Bonjour from Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.

Today is International Yoga Day. What exactly does that mean? Do you need to spend the entire day in down dog and and get your sun salutation on? Not exactly. Today us yogi's around the world celebrate the practice of yoga, meditation, and spreading awareness about yoga and how to add this wonderful practice to your lifestyle.

I want to talk a little about taking your yoga off your mat. When you leave your yoga practice do you take the compassion, kindness, and loving vibes with you when you leave the studio? Yoga doesn't give you any special powers or rights to not be a good human. Treat others as well as you treat yourself on your mat. In my own personal practice I often have to remind myself to slow down and it's funny how this follows me into my everyday living off my mat.

Today I took my yoga off the mat and slowed down. I had no plans but to ride my bike and take in the beauty of the trees, lavender fields, mountain air, and soaking up some sun at Lost Lake. This lead me to practice more gratitude and to think of the wonderful family and love I'm surrounded by.

Today I encourage you to take your yoga practice off the mat. Be kind to yourself, be kind to others, and flow through your day with the same grace you strive for on your yoga mat.

Namaste Perdido,

Cindy
