I opened Bodyworks of Perdido Key over six years ago. It was hard to
imagine leaving my former cozy beach vibe studio but after 5 years in that
location it was time to take the leap. I knew in order to better accommodate
my growing clientele I had to grow as well.
Let me first start off by telling you a little about my clients. Besides just being
awesome human beings, many of my clients have been with me 6 plus years.
I’ve had the pleasure of not only providing Bodywork for them but the entire
family. There’s a great comfort in seeing my schedule for the day being
husband, wife, daughter, son-in-law, aunts, and close friends. They have
become family to me and we’ve been through a lot of aches and pains together
in the muscular sense and in life. Many of them knew I would take this leap
far before I did and encouraged me to do so. From the beginning of my
massage career I always knew I wanted to have a space one day that people
could come to and feel safe, cared for, and receive quality bodywork. One of
my first jobs at a spa, the owner reminded me when I opened Bodyworks 2.0
about the day I came into her office and told her one day I would have a
beautiful spa like this...nearly 15 years later I made it happen.
I’ve had the honor to work with some amazing people throughout my career.
Spa owners, Chiropractors, talented licensed massage therapist, yoga
teachers, retreat organizers, military organization such as MWR and working
with service members on their way to Iraq when I worked on Naval Station
Rota, Spain. I attribute my success to the many people I learned from and the
variety of organizations I immersed myself in to learn. Wellness comes in
many forms and I wanted to be apart of all of them.
Having grown up in a military family I know how strong that community is and also how important it is to have a group that is there for you when you need a little help. Many of us here at Bodyworks have been influenced by, and with the military, we've seen firsthand what life is like as a child, moving from place to place. In adulthood, we have experienced this incredible community as service members, friends, and family. We have all been drawn to support those who support our freedoms and liberties. For these reasons and many more, we have chosen to collect donations for the USO in our area.
We are quickly approaching our 1 year Anniversary at our new location on
March 6, 2020. I really wanted to do something to give back to our local
community and our wonderful clients. With our area having such a large
military presence, and many of our clients being active duty military, military
spouses, retirees, or have a family member serving, we couldn't think of a
better way to give back than to help our military members. We've got your
back!!!! Throughout March we will be collecting items for our local USO. Your
donation will make you eligible to win 3 months of bodywork with us, in the
form of 3 bliss filled 60 minute massage sessions. In addition to being entered in our drawing, you will also receive 10% off your massage on the day of donation, through March 6th.

Essential oils ignite your senses. Many scents can transport us back to a time in a moment or to a particular memory. The smell of pine trees can transport you back to that time you went to a Christmas tree farm with your family, and immediately, you have a feeling of comfort, or stress depending on your tree experience, lol.
Essential oils can be used and enjoyed in a variety of ways. Applied topically, with a carrier oil (Almond, Coconut, Shea, etc.) Diffused, in a bath, or spritzed on bedding, or clothing. Aside from smelling good, essential oils are also therapeutic. The variety of oils is as diverse as effects that they can have. From mood boosters, to sleep enhancing, essential oils can help to calm you, focus you, inspire, remember, and much more.
We use diffused essential oils in our studio to create a place of peace, and transformation. Lemon, orange, or lime may combine with earthy, frankincense to transition your mind and body for a serene experience. Each time you return to our studio, our uplifting, yet calming diffused oils makes you take a deep breathe and know relaxation is ahead of you....
Many people use oils to clean with, opting to forgo chemical based cleaners, essential oils can cut through dirt and help to make your house “naturally” clean, with the added bonus of elegant aromas.
Lavender and Eucalyptus are a couple of the most well known oils. Their aromatics make it easy to use them in numerous ways, but what about some of the other oils out there. There is a variety of exciting oils to be discovered. Tea tree is an essential oil with a fresh menthol scent that has been used as an anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-viral, and for skin conditions like, eczema, dandruff, acne, and cradle cap.
Some cultures believe that the scent of sandalwood can help maintain alertness, and focus during meditation. By inhaling the earthy aroma of sandalwood, messages are transmitted to the brain through the limbic system and create a physiological and an emotional response, typically a reductions in blood pressure. Sandalwood is also known to help with insomnia, anxiety, as well as mental alertness.
Next time you want to relax, ease a headache, naturally fall asleep or just want your home to smell nice, go with the natural choice of essential oils.
Your Bodyworks Tribe
Recently, we’ve had several clients comment on our services, and how there is always an extra level of care provided. We strive to make sure that each and every person who receives a service here, knows how important they are and how important their time is to us. We believe that small details matter just as much as the service itself, and that means that we like to think about more than just the time you are here with us. Massage therapy is a tool that is used to help promote relaxation, improve circulation, relax the mind and body, soothe sore muscles and so much more. The care that goes in to each session is to show our appreciation for you, as well as, ensure that you leave knowing that you are appreciated.
We add aromatherapy scented hot towels for your back and feet, If needed, we also have warm flax seed pillows to help relax your muscles and warm you up, cool packs to aid in inflammation and essential oils can be smelled throughout our facility, all of this is done to make sure that your time here is peaceful, relaxing and restorative.
We can’t wait to see you again, and wish you wellness.
If you are wondering what the long scarves are for, they aren’t scarves, they are Silks that are used by Massage therapists to perform a type of Deep Tissue massage called Ashiatsu. If you read our last Blog, you already know what Ashiatsu is and what it means. If you are catching up, Ashiatsu is rooted in Japanese and broken down, means Foot Pressure.
Therapists use these Silks that are attached to the table to deliver therapeutic myofascial and deep tissue techniques. This fabric strap is used by practitioners for stability and to add tensional and gravitational force to specific manual therapy methods. These methods, combined with the broad contact surface of the foot facilitate less restriction and more ease and relaxation in recipients’ bodies.
We will be adding this service to our menu in the future. We can’t wait to share this with you!
