Life Beyond The Massage Table…
I’ve been working as a massage therapist for 16 years so this break has been, well kinda weird. I’m not here to only tell you good vibes and stay positive. I want to also talk about all the other feeling we may be having.
I’ve been pretty quiet about the pandemic. Enough people have been speaking up about it and it made me think about if what I said would really be contributing. I want to be positive for all of you but I also want to acknowledge all the emotions many of us are feeling.
I write this to you because I want you to know you don’t have to be positive ALL the time. It’s perfectly OKAY to feel scared, worried, angry, sad, frustrated, anxious, annoyed, or just bummed out. Having feelings doesn’t make you a “negative person.” It makes you HUMAN.
There has been a lot of uncertainties for everyone. The situation seems to change daily. We are following the guideline of Executive Order 20-72 issued by Governor DeSantis. As of now the date we can return is May 8th. We will continue to keep you updated on any changes.
In the meantime, know that all of us here at Bodyworks miss all of you! We miss doing what we love and look forward to the day we can work with you again. Many have asked if they can still purchase gift certificates and the answer is YES!!!! We plan on coming back strong and we’ll be well rested for you.
Be well. Be kind. Be the change.
Big virtual hugs,
Cindy and the Bodyworks Tribe
PS: Support our local businesses that are open. Here’s a list of the local restaurants we know about doing curb-side and take-out. List subject to change.
To our Bodyworks family,
We hope this message finds you mentally, emotionally, and physically healthy.
The situation we are in brings many emotions. Fear, worry, anxiety, hopelessness, and feeling uncertain of many things. It is important for us all to remember who we are and what we’re meant to do. It’s not easy for us to slow down, but in a moment our entire world has stopped.
I read an article today that really spoke to me. I would like to share it with all of you because it made me reflect and bring awareness to the feelings I’m experiencing, and acknowledge their presence.
How are we all dealing with the immense uncertainty of the world?
The world is in a state of fear and uncertainty right now, and it’s stressful and overwhelming for most of us.
This kind of fear, stress, uncertain and overwhelm can have some really strong effects on our lives:
So how do we cope with this?
Take a look at the attached article about dealing with the uncertainty and fear. Let us all bring awareness to the feelings we’re experiencing, and acknowledge their presence.
Please know you are not alone in this. From all of us at Bodyworks, Be well, Be kind, Be the change.
To my Bodyworks clients,
This has been a very tough decision for me and it was one I included my Bodyworks team on. My first priority continues to be the wellness and safety of my employees, clients, and our community. We want to do our part to prevent any community spread so I have made the very difficult decision to suspend ALL bodywork and yoga services starting the end of business day March 16, 2020 until April 1, 2020.
Due to the amount of clients we see weekly including the elderly and immune-deficient, I feel it is in the best interest of all. I apologize for any inconvenience this closure may cause you during these uncertain times.
On a personal note, this has been perhaps the most difficult decision I have ever made as a business owner. I appreciate each and every one of you being loyal clients of Bodyworks. We practice extremely strict cleaning procedures. We wash our hands, we sanitize everything, we launder all linens, we have a commercial cleaning service weekly, yet I feel we need to pause and let things settle.
I hope everyone is finding some normalcy in these not so normal feeling times. Hug your family, or air hug them, play some board games. Did I mention I played a 4 hour game of monopoly the other night and lost to a 9 year old? I’m trying to find light in a dark situation and it always seems to come from the love of my family I have around me.
I wish you all love and hope you feel the love of all of us at Bodyworks surrounding you. Always remember that kindness is contagious; spread that like crazy.
We look forward to getting our hands and feet, sanitized of course, back on you soon.
With much love,
Founder/Owner of Bodyworks of Perdido Key
Bodyworks of Perdido Key wishes you health and wellness. We want you to be aware of the measures that we take to maintain a welcoming, and clean environment. We also want to let you know about efforts that we have added to our cleaning practices.
We strive to maintain a clean and inviting establishment. Proper hygiene and cleanliness are ALWAYS top priority at Bodyworks. We understand that there is increased concern regarding COVID-19 and have increased our already strict guidelines.
If you, a family member, or someone in your close circle has experienced any “flu like” symptoms we will reschedule your appointment to a time at least 2 weeks from your appointment date. This is being done to protect our staff as well as all clients. We will reschedule your appointment if we feel that you are unwell. This is not an action that we are taking lightly. We want to take care of everyone, but we must act in the best interest of all that we come in contact with.
The nature of our business requires close contact in a confined space. We simply cannot risk unnecessary exposure. Many of our clients fall under the “senior” category, though we see them as anything but seniors. Some have weakened immune systems, some are caring for others with weakened immune systems. We will do everything in our power to protect each of you. We also know that this may inconvenience some, we apologize in advance for that. We have a diverse clientele and we must protect everyone.
Please know that we only want to ensure that everyone stays well and protected. If your service has to be rescheduled, we will do our best to give you suggestions to help with how to help you with your specific needs until your next appointment.
What measures are we taking? We ALWAYS wash hands before and after services, but we have increased that to include sanitizing hands more frequently. We are also asking clients to wash hands prior to service. Hand sanitizer has been placed throughout the studio and we will be encouraging everyone to use it regularly.
All door handles (exterior and interior) are being cleaned with disinfectant spray and or wipes after each client enters or leaves. Light switches, chairs, touch screens, pens, clipboards and any other items that are touched are regularly being disinfected.
We appreciate you,
~Your Bodyworks Tribe
P.S. - Don’t forget to wash your hands…frequently!
Technology has taken over. Technology has taken place of cameras, telephones, televisions, computers, letters, video cameras, and so much more. As great as technology can be, we do need a break from it, from time to time.
We all need our phones, but they can keep us from fully engaging, and from fully resting. As a generality, we have become dependent on instant information, and also feel compelled to give instant responses. This habit takes away from areas that need more focus, more rest, more attention. Let’s look at some of the great things that we can do with our phones; make calls, check email, text, take pictures, share pictures, create a list, write a speech, record a movie, check out activity, play a game, manage your banking, read a book, watch a show, keep up with social media, listen to music, store music, access the internet, you get the picture. All of these things in the palm of our hands! It’s great, but at the same time it can be consuming. Here are some tips on how to unplug a little and focus a little more.

I opened Bodyworks of Perdido Key over six years ago. It was hard to
imagine leaving my former cozy beach vibe studio but after 5 years in that
location it was time to take the leap. I knew in order to better accommodate
my growing clientele I had to grow as well.
Let me first start off by telling you a little about my clients. Besides just being
awesome human beings, many of my clients have been with me 6 plus years.
I’ve had the pleasure of not only providing Bodywork for them but the entire
family. There’s a great comfort in seeing my schedule for the day being
husband, wife, daughter, son-in-law, aunts, and close friends. They have
become family to me and we’ve been through a lot of aches and pains together
in the muscular sense and in life. Many of them knew I would take this leap
far before I did and encouraged me to do so. From the beginning of my
massage career I always knew I wanted to have a space one day that people
could come to and feel safe, cared for, and receive quality bodywork. One of
my first jobs at a spa, the owner reminded me when I opened Bodyworks 2.0
about the day I came into her office and told her one day I would have a
beautiful spa like this...nearly 15 years later I made it happen.
I’ve had the honor to work with some amazing people throughout my career.
Spa owners, Chiropractors, talented licensed massage therapist, yoga
teachers, retreat organizers, military organization such as MWR and working
with service members on their way to Iraq when I worked on Naval Station
Rota, Spain. I attribute my success to the many people I learned from and the
variety of organizations I immersed myself in to learn. Wellness comes in
many forms and I wanted to be apart of all of them.
Having grown up in a military family I know how strong that community is and also how important it is to have a group that is there for you when you need a little help. Many of us here at Bodyworks have been influenced by, and with the military, we've seen firsthand what life is like as a child, moving from place to place. In adulthood, we have experienced this incredible community as service members, friends, and family. We have all been drawn to support those who support our freedoms and liberties. For these reasons and many more, we have chosen to collect donations for the USO in our area.
We are quickly approaching our 1 year Anniversary at our new location on
March 6, 2020. I really wanted to do something to give back to our local
community and our wonderful clients. With our area having such a large
military presence, and many of our clients being active duty military, military
spouses, retirees, or have a family member serving, we couldn't think of a
better way to give back than to help our military members. We've got your
back!!!! Throughout March we will be collecting items for our local USO. Your
donation will make you eligible to win 3 months of bodywork with us, in the
form of 3 bliss filled 60 minute massage sessions. In addition to being entered in our drawing, you will also receive 10% off your massage on the day of donation, through March 6th.
-USO ITEMS NEEDED-

Thank you all for your amazing support of Bodyworks and that of our Military!
Essential oils ignite your senses. Many scents can transport us back to a time in a moment or to a particular memory. The smell of pine trees can transport you back to that time you went to a Christmas tree farm with your family, and immediately, you have a feeling of comfort, or stress depending on your tree experience, lol.
Essential oils can be used and enjoyed in a variety of ways. Applied topically, with a carrier oil (Almond, Coconut, Shea, etc.) Diffused, in a bath, or spritzed on bedding, or clothing. Aside from smelling good, essential oils are also therapeutic. The variety of oils is as diverse as effects that they can have. From mood boosters, to sleep enhancing, essential oils can help to calm you, focus you, inspire, remember, and much more.
We use diffused essential oils in our studio to create a place of peace, and transformation. Lemon, orange, or lime may combine with earthy, frankincense to transition your mind and body for a serene experience. Each time you return to our studio, our uplifting, yet calming diffused oils makes you take a deep breathe and know relaxation is ahead of you....
Many people use oils to clean with, opting to forgo chemical based cleaners, essential oils can cut through dirt and help to make your house “naturally” clean, with the added bonus of elegant aromas.
Lavender and Eucalyptus are a couple of the most well known oils. Their aromatics make it easy to use them in numerous ways, but what about some of the other oils out there. There is a variety of exciting oils to be discovered. Tea tree is an essential oil with a fresh menthol scent that has been used as an anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal, anti-viral, and for skin conditions like, eczema, dandruff, acne, and cradle cap.
Some cultures believe that the scent of sandalwood can help maintain alertness, and focus during meditation. By inhaling the earthy aroma of sandalwood, messages are transmitted to the brain through the limbic system and create a physiological and an emotional response, typically a reductions in blood pressure. Sandalwood is also known to help with insomnia, anxiety, as well as mental alertness.
Next time you want to relax, ease a headache, naturally fall asleep or just want your home to smell nice, go with the natural choice of essential oils.

Recently, we’ve had several clients comment on our services, and how there is always an extra level of care provided. We strive to make sure that each and every person who receives a service here, knows how important they are and how important their time is to us. We believe that small details matter just as much as the service itself, and that means that we like to think about more than just the time you are here with us. Massage therapy is a tool that is used to help promote relaxation, improve circulation, relax the mind and body, soothe sore muscles and so much more. The care that goes in to each session is to show our appreciation for you, as well as, ensure that you leave knowing that you are appreciated.
We add aromatherapy scented hot towels for your back and feet, If needed, we also have warm flax seed pillows to help relax your muscles and warm you up, cool packs to aid in inflammation and essential oils can be smelled throughout our facility, all of this is done to make sure that your time here is peaceful, relaxing and restorative.
We can’t wait to see you again, and wish you wellness.
